Bio

TJ James is a talented singer / songwriter / performer with a strong presence in the local and national music community. Tim was born with Cerebral Palsy but with a strong faith and conviction, he believes that ‘anything is possible’. You only have to listen to his music to realize that it is. Check out his latest release ‘Solidify’ on all digital platforms.

He is a musician first - as he says, "People don't buy Stevie Wonder's music because he is blind, and I don’t want them buying mine because I am disabled - but because they like the music I write'.

Influenced by a diverse range of artists from the world of classic rock through to contemporary alternative pop, TJ has honed his skills as a songwriter and professional performer since the early 90s.

His style of music today is probably best described as ‘classic AOR rock with an upbeat feel and message”.

In addition to professionally busking and performing solo in venues locally and nationally, TJ has also played direct support to prominent artists such as Wendy Mathews and Rick Price

TJ’s work has been endorsed by industry professionals such as Mike Tramp formerly of White Lion and Hoodoo Gurus manager Michael McMartin who has described TJ’s material as ‘superb'.

Since 2001 TJ James has release 8 Projects including the following:

2001 and 2023 TJ James recorded and released five albums independently, “Able Bodied” (2001), “TJ James” self-titled (2003), “Another World” (2007)’” All the Pieces Fit” (2012), No Apologies (2019) and “Solidify” (2023)

All his releases are in profit across the catalogue. All of this was achieved without the aid of a recording company or distributor.

TJ also made the commitment right from 2001 to donate 20 - 30% of Album sales to help Cerebral Palsy organisations across Australia. Also working with the wider disability community, TJ is looking to continue to be an advocate to others with disabilities thru Live Performances, Workshops, Guest Speaker Appearances and Expos.

In 2010 TJ James moved from his hometown of Canberra to Sydney and has become involved in the Sydney music scene. Over the past 14 years he has performed regular shows at venues such as Boyles Sutherland Hotel, Bidwill Hotel, Miranda RSL just to name a few.

In addition to performing solo shows TJ James is also a member of two local Sydney bands called “Johnny And The Easy Riders” and “Re-Covery Band”. Both groups feature former members of well-known Sydney bands such as Heroes From Heaven and Jukebox Jive.
